The Project Lead The Way (PLTW) Pathway To Engineering (PTE) curriculum is designed as a four-year high school sequence. Foundation courses (Introduction to Engineering Design, Principles of Engineering, and Digital Electronics) are supplemented by a number of electives to create eight rigorous, relevant, reality-based courses.
INTRODUCTION TO ENGINEERING DESIGN (IED): JULY 5th - JULY 16th
Using 3D computer modeling software, students learn the design process and solve design problems for which they develop, analyze, and create product models. The IED course allows students to use sophisticated three-dimensional modeling software to improve existing products, invent new ones, and communicate the details of the products to others using design process throughout the course. It includes
- Sketched solution set of cube designs
- create multi-view dimensioned drawing files of their individual and assembled puzzle parts as well as a ballooned, exploded isometric with parts list
- Model Dimensioning
- Design Challenge
- Product Improvement design documents w/Design Brief. Physical Properties displayed on *idw's.
- Virtual Design Challenge w/ design Documents & proof of collaboration, Gantt chart
