Al Tessmer

Al Tessmer is a 38 year veteran in K-12 education and has taught science, math and technology at the Middle and High School levels. His career has also included stints as athletic director, interim principal/assistant principal and science department chair.

He has taught at the university level for eleven years specializing in Technology Education and Pre-engineering teacher preparation. His area of specialization is in micro-electronics which includes two years of training and outreach for the Wireless Integrated Microsystems Center at the University of Michigan Engineering School.

In addition to educational pursuits, Mr. Tessmer also competed in the Challenger Program and was an aspiring teacher- Cosmonaut in Baikonur, Russia. In 1991, he was awarded the State of Michigan “Can Do” award for outstanding technical education specialists. His business and industry experience includes consulting at Ford Motor and Avis Enterprises as an educational and Continuous Improvement specialist.

He has a BS in Science and Physical Education, additional majors in Technology Education and Electronics and an MS in Administration with a focus on Career and Technical Education. He also lectures at Bowling Green University in the Technology Education program.
